Bamboo is no longer a menace for the homeowner, but a boon. The building industry is embracing the reed that keeps on giving. Fast-growing bamboo is now made into ply that is extremely hardwearing, and well, rather pretty. Bamboo ply has a closer end grain and is made up of finer strips. The result has an elegant linearity that’s perfect for using in cabinetry, vanities, desk tops or stair treads. Because it’s food safe and formaldehyde free, bamboo ply even makes a good-looking kitchen bench. It’s more expensive than gaboon ply, but we think its rich golden colour is hard to beat.
