At Box™ we’re acutely aware that we design and build for the top 1% of the 1%, which is a tragedy in itself and something we’re keen to resolve. We have been giving to the One Percent Collective for a while now and they are a very worthwhile Kiwi charity doing amazing stuff. For those who are interested, here are a few of their recent stories:
- The Life-Saving Chair – Volunteer dentist Tihema Nicol brings her skills to those who need it most down at DCM’s Dental Service in Wellington. She shares some of the recent stories from the dental chair with us, and how for some, addressing that debilitating pain is the first step that’s needed on the journey to getting healthy and housed.
- Living That Kindness – Sivan Nathan, a longtime One Percent Collective donor and volunteer with partner charity Ngā Rangatahi Toa, shares her experience of mucking in to work with the NRT crew through their recent Matariki photography exhibition project, and how the love and kindness that pours out of everything they do with their young people has spilled over into her day to day life.
- Leading The Way For Self-Care – Jody Burrell recently stood on stage in front of 1,300 young New Zealanders alongside her two best friends as a key speaker at Inspiring Stories’ flagship event Festival For The Future, to bravely share some of her own struggles with anxiety and depression and encourage young people to engage in self-care. As a graduate of Inspiring Stories’ Live the Dream programme, where the three founded their organisation CoLiberate and set off on the amazing journey that led up to that moment, Jody has generously taken the time to share the experience with us.
