Quantity Surveyor

We are looking for a dynamic outgoing individual that is passionate about residential building, who has risen through the ranks of the industry starting either as a Quantity Surveyor or Engineer. The end to end role is broad and includes anything from detailed on site build knowledge, core quantity surveying & estimating deliverables, risk management to project management, procurement, financial reporting and managing the supply chain.

Among the qualities you must possess include strong commercial awareness, proven client liaison skills, project management and team leadership. You will also need an extensive understanding of the construction industry, flexibility and a talent for negotiation.



- 5-10 Years post qualification experience working for a residential / commercial contractor mix

- Relevant professional qualification eg Quantity Surveying Degree or Diploma, Engineering Degree

- Key residential experience in New Zealand (group house builder experience overseas will be considered)

- Strong attention to detail with a sense of professionalism at every step

- Outgoing personality with an innate ability to relate to others

- New Zealand Resident or valid NZ Working Visa

- Valid NZ Driver’s License


Specific Duties and Responsibilities

- Deliver the role autonomously once work has been allocated

- Core QS contract administration using industry specific financial management software (training provided) including Variations, Valuations, Cost Reports, Final Accounts, Month End reporting & reconciliations

- Project Co-ordination / Management between Box Architect and site teams including programme of works preparation and management, controlling delivery near completion on site, assigning work & co-ordinating activities on site

- Prepare Box house estimates using CostX estimating software (training provided)

- Material & labour take-offs, Cash flow forecasts, labour forecasts

- Prepare & execute RMB Contracts

- Project specific sub contract procurement & administration

- Peer review of design documentation pre-consent including quality control when on site

- Code Compliance Certificate processing

- Snagging management post completion

- Attending site meetings, client cost meetings

- Design problem solving in conjunction with Box Architect and site team during design & build phase

- Create and maintain partnership contracts with suppliers and sub contractors

- Be  smart, punctual and work necessary hours to get tasks completed

- Assist Managing Director in monthly financial reporting cycle Reporting

- You will report to the Senior QS
