Simple, unfettered, classic, barn design. The aim of the house was not to shout extravagance, but more to understate simplicity, natural materials, light and to provide a canvas for the owners to express their style.
Situated in Omaha and subject to sun, sea and sand, the choice of natural, durable materials was important. The cedar cladding will silver with age and be almost no maintenance. The hard-wearing ground & polished concrete floor will take all that life throws at it, while the timber cabinetry and linings will take knocks and general use with ease. It also adds a warmth and natural feel in keeping with the natural environment.
The traditional roof form is practical and simple. And just goes to show that a Box™ house does not always have to look like the proverbial!
